Who this is between
These terms govern your use of Kin, an Ardenholt program operated by Ruzylo Cloud, LLC ("we", "us"). Using Kin means you agree to them.
The service
Kin is software provided as-is: a shared coordination record for a family caring for an ageing relative, holding entries the family makes itself. We work to keep it running and useful, but we offer no uptime guarantee and no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, except where the law requires one.
What you pay
Kin is free to try for 7 days, then $0.99 a month or $7.99 a year, as an auto-renewable App Store subscription. It renews until you cancel, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
So that this cannot be quietly rewritten once a family's record is long enough to be worth something, the terms of that are stated here rather than left as an intention.
- The complete program is free to every member of the family, permanently.
- No advertising, and no sale or brokerage of what a family's record says about anyone in it.
- No separate tier holding the timeline or the CSV export — the subscription is the whole program.
- No per-seat pricing games — one subscription, one caregiver's record.
- If this ever changed, it would be published on the program page before it took effect, and the record you have already written would remain readable and exportable regardless.
Refunds
There are none, because there are no payments. Nothing is charged for Kin, so there is nothing to refund and no billing relationship between us. If you stop using it, you owe nothing and are owed nothing, and the record stays where it always was — on your own devices.
Your account, if you ever make one
You do not need an account to use Kin. Reading or writing the record asks for nothing at all — no email address, no sign-in, no wall in front of the thing you came for.
Kin uses Sign in with Apple, required once when you start; you can hide your email. The account carries your sign-in and your subscription — never the timeline, the notes, or anything else about the person being cared for. The record syncs only to your own private iCloud. We run no server holding it, which means we cannot read it or hand it to anyone who asks.
If you do make one, keep your sign-in private, and tell us at privacy@ruzylo.dev if you believe it has been misused.
Not medical advice, and not a medical record
Kin is coordination and record-keeping between family members. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment; it is not a medical device; and it is not a pharmacy system, an electronic health record, or a HIPAA-covered service. We are not a covered entity or a business associate, and nothing in Kin should be relied on as a clinical source of truth.
A medication note in Kin is what you have written down. It is not a prescription, it does not come from a pharmacy, and it may be wrong or out of date — confirm doses with the prescriber or pharmacist before acting on them, and never set aside professional advice because of something recorded here.
If someone may be having a medical emergency, call 911 — or your local emergency number — now.
The person being cared for
Kin holds information about someone who is usually not the one entering it. You are responsible for having the authority or the relationship that makes that appropriate, for what you record about them, and for who you invite to read it. Invite only people that person would want to have access, and remove members who should no longer have it.
We will not adjudicate family disputes about access, and we cannot: we do not hold the record and cannot see who is in it.
What we will never send on your behalf
Kin does not report, file, or forward anything to any third party for you. It sends nothing to a doctor, an insurer, a pharmacy, a care facility, or an employer. If a clinician or an agency needs the history, you export it and hand it over yourself, on your own decision, every time.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Kin to surveil, coerce, or harm anyone, including the person being cared for.
- Do not rely on it as a substitute for care from a qualified clinician or advice from a lawyer.
- Do not break, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law permits it.
- Do not use it for spam, harassment, or anything illegal.
Ending it
You can stop using Kin whenever you like: delete the app and nothing of yours is left behind on our side, because nothing of yours was there. Export first if you want to keep the record — once it is off your devices we cannot recover it for you. We may suspend access if we reasonably believe these terms are being broken, with notice where that is feasible.
Liability
To the maximum extent the law permits, and given that Kin is provided free of charge, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of it is limited to $50.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, and disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located there.
Changes
If we make a material change we will update this sheet and the effective date at its head, and write once to anyone on the register. Continuing to use Kin after a change means you accept it.
